The Exterior Façade of the Future New Bruce
/ Bruce MuseumVery exciting progress this week. Things are moving very fast. The first precast panels were installed on the west façade on Monday. They wrapped around to the north on Tuesday, August 24, and Thursday, August 26 they began hanging precast on the east main front. At the same time, they’ve been pouring the concrete floors—finished pouring the second (mezzanine) floor on Tuesday, and finished pouring the third (gallery floor) Thursday.
The first five pictures: Pictures 1 & 2 - western façade in the warm evening sun. Note the corner detail, carefully worked out in three dimensions by the architects.
Pictures 3 & 4 - north façade, which will never get direct sun. We are delighted at how legible the angled blades (the striations) of the surface are visible even in shade. The direct sun catches just the tops of the blades.
Picture 5 – taken Thursday, August 26 morning.
